When was Anheuser-Busch founded?

When Anheuser-Busch was founded in the 1850s, it started as a small neighborhood brewery. Through the combined efforts of Eberhard Anheuser, Adolphus Busch, and thousands of employees, our brewery quickly transformed from a local fixture into a national presence.

Who founded Anheuser-Busch Brewing Association?

Our founder, Adolphus Busch, journeyed to America from Germany in 1857, determined to make his dreams come true. After fighting for the Union during the Civil War, Adolphus joined his father-in-law’s business, bringing big, ambitious ideas with him. In 1879, the company’s name was officially changed to Anheuser-Busch Brewing Association.

Where did Anheuser & Busch come from?

The company had its origins in a small brewery opened in St. Louis by George Schneider in 1852. This faltering enterprise was bought by the soap manufacturer Eberhard Anheuser in 1860, and the following year Anheuser’s daughter married Adolphus Busch, a brewery supplier who became the driving force behind the brewery’s future success.
